Anna Gillespie: I am aware that Horse Chestnuts are suffering generally, but it is truly magnificent and I'm sad to hear of its possible demise.   My vote, not that I have one, would certainly be to put a small rope around the area that may be considered dangerous to walk in and then let the tree continue with its natural process.

Li An Phoa: I encourage Schumacherians to save Schumacher's (hundred some years old) healthy horse chestnut tree who is under threat to be cut down due to fallen branches (lost limbs). Speak up, write an email to Dartington. Instead, a better solution could be to help her lose some weight by cutting some branches off.

Jan van Boeckel: "This painting I made standing under the Horse Chestnut, looking towards Schumacher College, The Old Postern. I tried to push it as far as I could, painting the vanishing light while still being able to see some of the paint colours on my mixing pad. Presently the framed painting is hanging in the snack room."

  1. Wow. Beautiful! No idea when this post occurred, but thank you, wliwni, for speaking up for the tree. I see it still standing in my heart. I hope it is. The Standing Dancer.
